4 New Records, Many CCS and State-Leading Marks With over 1,300 athletes competing, no rain and cool temperatures (ok, it was COLD), this year’s meet featured many outstanding efforts inclusing 5 new meets records: 12:08.18 by San Lorenzo Valley’s Women’s Distance Medley Relay (breaking the old record by 20 seconds), Rachel Bolton of Homestead (12-10) and Cimran Virdi of Las Lomas (12-06) both breaking Natasha Barthel’s Women’s Pole Vault record, Byron Marshall of Valley Christian (San Jose) running a wind-legal 10.61 in the Men’s 100m, and Kenneth Walker of John F. Kennedy running a wind-legal 14.12 in the 110HH. |

Final Seeding Available The final seeding for the meet is available here. Please make sure your athletes check in at least 30 minutes prior to their event at the Clerk of the Course located at the end of the track closest to the finish line. We will reseed an event if doing so will reduce the number of heats, or it effects the first (fastest heat) in each event. There have also been some monir changes to the schedule. Please be aware that we will run the meet ahead of schedule if given the opportunity (but no more than 30 minutes). Please pay attention to first calls! |

Saturday, Rain or Shine The 29th annual Saint Francis Track and Field Invitational will be held beginning g at 8:00am at Saint Francis – rain or shine. We have over 1,350 athletes competing at the meet this year. Award tees are provided to the top 3 finishers in each event. And there are a limited number (200) of Invitational tee-shirts also available on a first come and first served basis. In 2007 (the last time we used this design) we sold out by 9:30am! See you all there on Saturday! |

Used Shoe Collection for Zimbabwe One of our long-time volunteers and Cross Country statistician Ellen Clark has a long-running non-profit foundation that support orphans in Zimbabwe. One of her major fundraising events is the The Run for Zimbabwe Orphans and Fair. This year that race is on April 1. Please come out and support the orphans by attending the event. Ellen also collect “lightly-used” running shoes that she sends to Zimbaabwe. We will have information and a donation barrel for running shoes at our meet. |

New This Year: Co-Ed 800-meter Relay This year the Saint francis Invitational has added a Varsity and Frosh/Soph 4x200 meter Co-Ed Relay. Each team may enter 2 boys and 2 girls for this event. The runners may run in any order. All runners on each team must be from the same school. Award tee-shirts for the 1st 3 teams in each division. And there is an official CCS record for this: 1:37.63 by San Carlos High School in 1980 (that is 24.4075 per leg!). If you are interested, please email your entries directly to trackcoach@sfhs.com (DirectAthletics does not support co-ed entries). And it is free this year. |
